I am a female painter and work in my studio at Wimbledon Art Studios. www.wimbledonartstudios.co.uk

My work:

My paintings mainly depict the abstract & semi figurative landscape, but also the still life & portrait. My work relate mostly to places, people, dreams & memories, showing the influences of my emotional environment. Most have a narrative.

I paint in oil on canvas, although I have recently been fascinated by wood as a surface - I aim to use this support as it is, in its rawest form, without a primer, a bit like in Hodgkin's Indian paintings.

My work can be found in private collections in the UK & Norway.

I currently tutor Oil painting courses for EAL, Ealing, West London. Previously I have lectured at Richmond Art School, RACC, Richmond, Surrey (1998-2009).

Life drawing workshops:

I run regular Life drawing workshops in my studio at Wimbledon Art Studios - Please email me if you would like more information or wish to know when the next workshop takes place.

 

Influences:

The following are among the many artists whose work I have an affinity with and have inspired my work: Tapies, Picasso, Munch, Auerbach, Hodgkin, Diebenkorn, Frankenthaler, Cy Twombly,  Blow, Rothko, Heron, W. Scott, Hilton, Matisse, Morandi and ex-colleague & friend Francis Bowyer, PPres RWS, NEAC.

As an artist I never stop looking at the work of other artists.
